Union Capture First-Ever League Win vs. Chattanooga FC

Published May 2, 2022

Chattanooga, TN (April 30, 2022) - The Union were on the road to match up against the Chattanooga FC at Finley Stadium this Saturday evening.

The first half seemed to be played pretty evenly with tough defense on both sides and a few good chances by both squads. With a 0-0 score headed into the halftime break, the Union needed to amp it up in the second half to capture a win.

Opening the second half with a lot of momentum and posession, the Union struggled to finish in the CFC half. Chattanooga had a few scary close chances with a one-time ball struck and shanked just off the corner post. Closing in on the 85th minute, Jay Lee of the Union outletted a ball down field to Lukas Fernandes making a run up the middle with minimal Chattanooga defense in front of him. On the break to the left of the goal, struck so well with the right foot - Fernandes found the back of the net to put the Union up, 1-0! With minimal time left and 4 minutes of added injury time, the Union needed to just keep the ball cleared. Defense went to work here and kept the ball out of the Union half and we captured our first-ever league win and 3 points to the table!
