Flower City 1872

The Flower City Union is laying down roots in women's soccer this season. The club is officially announcing their amateur women's team, Flower City 1872, that will play in the United Women's Soccer (UWS) league. The team will play at the Rochester Community Sports Complex alongside the Flower City Union squad. FC1872 will provide an opportunity to local talent to continue their soccer playing career in Rochester. The namesake and crest honor the iconic Susan B. Anthony. In 1872, she and 14 other Rochester women voted in a federal election in a groundbreaking case for voting rights.

"Susan B. Anthony was all for women to have every opportunity to participate in sport, which was an incredibly radical position in her day. She also was committed to pay equity, and we are thrilled that women's soccer has been leading the charge. Connecting Anthony and Rochester with professional women's soccer could not be more appropriate," says Deborah L. Hughes, President & CEO of the Susan B. Anthony House.
